Our history

At Texaa we design, develop and manufacture materials, panels and accessories that can be used to enhance the acoustic comfort of all types of interior spaces. Our solutions that have been improved and diversified over the years, consist of a combination of sound-absorbing systems, clad and protected with covers made out of our Aeria sound-transparent fabric that we knit using a patented process.
Our development work on materials and colours has enabled us since 1978 to proudly contribute products and solutions to the enhancement of quality architecture in France, Europe, the U.S. and regularly in other countries.

Some milestones

1950

The Bordeaux company Fatexaa produced luxury textile fittings for sandals, bags and baskets.

1970

In addition to its main business, Fatexaa combined its fabric with flexible foams to make acoustic cladding.

1979

The business was acquired and renamed Texaa (TEXtile, Acoustics & Architecture), and focussed its activity on acoustic applications for architectural use. It introduced a range of cladding products for walls: Vibrasto.

1983

A blind with vertical slats to control the acoustics of glazing became the first European patent requested by Texaa.

1986

Building on the technique of correcting acoustics with isolated objects, Texaa pioneered the use of absorber panels to be positioned inside volumes: the Stereo range was born.

1989

The premises in Bègles became too small, so Texaa moved to a workshop in Gradignan, outside Bordeaux, which was extended in stages in 1992 and 1999 by architects Luc Arsène-Henry & Alain Triaud.

1995

Invention of floating acoustic clusters on ceilings by grouping panels together.

1998

Launch of the Abso range of different acoustic accessories: Cones, Cubes, Cushions and Totems.

2000

More and more ways are invented of installing single‑ and double-sided Stereo panels, which become the “Swiss army knife” of acoustic comfort.

2012

Launch of single- and double-sided sound-absorbing curtains.

2015

Having developed the Grande Maille Ronde (GMR) knit, Texaa invents the Strato open mesh ceiling.

2018

The new components that make up Vibrasto cladding and its new installation system have considerably improved the carbon footprint of Texaa’s historic product, while enhancing its acoustic qualities.

2020

The new range of colours, put together by architect and colour specialist, Christine Bernos, is the fifth in Texaa’s history. It consists of a palette of 30 colours, some of which represent a return to heathered shades.

2022

Invention of Kora acoustic screens. For Texaa, Kora is an innovation because they make visible use of wooden parts: feet and bases made of local pine. Also new is the invisible use of MDF cores.

We are sorry that we cannot give the names of the acoustic engineers, architects, installers and building owners, who have supported, advised and followed us all these years, although we actually owe them everything.
